Challenges in computational statistical mechanics
Three challenges in statistical physics shall be discussed. The first is, how accurately does one have to solve the classical equations of motion of how many particles to make reliable hydrodynamic predictions. The second is, how to calculate the energy of a molecule to chemical accuracy. The third is, what model captures the essence of the high temperature superconductors. 11 refs., 2 figs.
