Timeline to efficiency

ABSTRACT

When you are in a position that relies on student employees as the majority of your workforce, there are many issues that you must handle and it is imperative to put the most efficient system into place. At the University of Missouri-Columbia, IAT Services, our organization employs approximately 175 students per semester. The processes that we have in place for hiring, training and performance evaluations are continuously being revamped and improved upon by our staff and employees. We have a common goal: minimize the amount of time spent on these tasks. Some of the many ways we have minimized our time were by automating most of our processes with online applications, renewal applications, availability, and training. We have also tried to maximize our time by setting deadlines one year in advance by creating a master calendar. For the full time staff we are able to better prepare and in turn prepare our student employees for what to expect and when to expect it. History has shown us that the better prepared we are, the better prepared our student employees will be. The following paper and presentation will review the streamlined system we have adopted that makes our hiring, training and the evaluation process more efficient.
