Data base systems for small business: miracle or mirage?

Published:01 July 1977Publication History
Skip Abstract Section

Abstract

A number of generalized data base management systems (DBMS) have recently been introduced that are designed to run on minicomputers. Since a DBMS is normally considered to be a very large, complex piece of software, the very existence of these programs represents an impressive accomplishment of software engineering. The purpose of this article is to analyze some implications of this development.
