A perturbation calculation in general relativity

Published: 01 August 1974 Publication History

Abstract

A perturbation method in general relativity, first developed by Levy was used to investigate a slowly pulsating axisymmetric system. The vacuum field equations were calculated to the second order of a small parameter. To be sure of the accuracy of the results obtained, one of the Bianchi identities was checked. The size of the calculations, especially that involved in the Bianchi identity, made it necessary to use an algebraic computer system, in this case LAM.
