ABSTRACT
A natural language interface is one that allows a database to be accessed using common language, in this case English, rather than a query language, such as SQL. A fuzzy database is one in which membership is not an absolute yes or no condition. This research expands the implementation of a Fuzzy Relational Database with Community Defined Membership values to include a set of synonyms to the fuzzy modifiers. The user community makes the determination of synonym status with respect to the fuzzy modifiers. By allowing the community to define the meaning of each synonym within the context of the fuzzy database, the semantics of a database request in the users own language is unambiguous.

Determining an optimal membership function based on community consensus in a fuzzy database system
ACM-SE 44: Proceedings of the 44th annual Southeast regional conferenceA fuzzy set is one in which membership in a category is not boolean. Rather items have a degree of membership. Fuzzy databases expand on this idea by storing fuzzy data and allowing it to be retrieved based on its degree of membership. Determining the ...
Modifiers based on some t-norms in fuzzy logic
Modifiers generated by <i>n</i>-placed functions are considered. The subject matter of modifiers are fuzzy sets, i.e. membership functions defined on the unit interval <i>I</i> = [0, 1]. Two sets of modifiers are considered as example cases. One of them ...
A Data Model for Fuzzy Linguistic Databases with Flexible Querying
AI '09: Proceedings of the 22nd Australasian Joint Conference on Advances in Artificial IntelligenceInformation to be stored in databases is often fuzzy. Two important issues in research in this field are the representation of fuzzy information in a database and the provision of flexibility in database querying, especially via including linguistic ...
