Abstract
The CHI '91 Conference held in New Orleans, April 28th May 2nd, took on the goal of including more late-breaking technical information than had been possible at previous CHI Conferences. CHI '91 scheduled a late (mid-January) deadline for authors to propose Interactive Posters or Short Talks. These formats are designed for the presentation of technical information even before it is "hot off the press" and ready to be archived as a regular paper. Posters are particularly well suited to visual displays of a variety of projects recently completed or still in progress. The Interactive Poster format encourages conversation and informal interaction between Poster authors and conferees. Short Talks, a new format for the CHI Conferences, present late-breaking information as a 10-minute talk included in the technical program.
