Towards seamless user mobility in service oriented environments via context awareness

Published: 06 July 2008 Publication History

Abstract

The enterprise today is composed of a number of small but powerful devices that are capable of consuming as well as hosting services. However mobility results in a change in the operating context which may in turn affect how the client consumes services or how the producer serves them. Reliable service execution in such environments requires a middleware platform that can make transparent this change of context. Such a middleware platform must not only provide components of context management but also support for dynamic discovery and rebinding based on the contextual information. Here we present a survey of existing middleware platforms for pervasive services and outline our own platform that overcomes their limitations.1
