Municipal wireless data network in Longmont, CO

Published: 19 September 2008 Publication History

Abstract

As municipalities study opportunities to build large Wi-Fi networks to cover their territory, it is interesting to compare these initiatives' coverage, performance, and cost to other existing cellular high-speed solutions. This paper examines one particular case in the city of Longmont, CO. Coverage and throughput measurements are performed in a residential area; cost analyses and consumer perceptions are examined as well.
