ABSTRACT
The paper discusses the design problems facing the data systems engineers who are required to produce a data-collection system that will be able to enter a computer easily. Some empirical formulas are presented with a discussion of how to use these formulas. The many recording tools and their application to data systems which are being prepared for entry into computers are described with a discussion of the place of each recording device. The second section of the paper is a critical analysis of four data recording or gathering systems designed to go directly to a digital computer.

An Optimal Data Gathering Method for Mobile Sinks in WSNs
In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), energy is one of the most important resources since each node collects, processes and transmits data to its base station. Most of the traditional works in WSNs are consisted of static nodes and one base station. ...
Hierarchical Ring-Based Data Gathering for Dense Wireless Sensor Networks
Data gathering is an essential operation in wireless sensor networks. For periodic data gathering applications, each sensor node has data that must be sent to a distant base station in a round of communication. Due to the limited battery power of sensor ...
UAV-assisted data gathering in wireless sensor networks
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is a promising carriage for data gathering in wireless sensor networks since it has sufficient as well as efficient resources both in terms of time and energy due to its direct communication between the UAV and sensor ...
