An object discarding policy with FI systems for cooperative hybrid caching architecture

Published: 28 March 2008 Publication History

Abstract

We discuss a predictive, hybrid caching structure that has eliminated the performance issues of the existing and proposed schemes for fetching objects in the WWW environment. We discuss each of these approaches, their advantages and disadvantages, and then describe a new approach based upon this predictive technique using tables of rules derived from actual experience of the object requests. We provide a simulation of this system using the NLANR proxy traces to show the impact this proposed protocol has on the performance of the Internet with web object traffic.
