Abstract

The educational world has become filled with millions of pieces of free and open content. The momentum for open education quickly accelerated in the early part of this decade when MIT announced its OpenCourseWare initiative and dozens of other colleges and universities around the world joined in the cause. These open educational resources have made a huge impact on the educational possibilities of young learners as well as retirees looking to build upon their past educational experiences. Curtis J. Bonk offers 30 reasons why there is so much excitement for open education today.
