ABSTRACT
In order to eliminate the automation stop stations in automotive general assembly (GA) and enable robotic automation on continuous moving conveyors, it is essential that the conveyors' dynamic motion behaviors at the assembly plant floor are characterized and quantified. A six degree of freedom (DOF) accelerometer with embedded data logging capability has been utilized to collect the convey or dynamic motion data from several assembly plants. This paper summarizes convey or dynamic motion data collected from several assembly plants, analyzes these dynamic motion data using simple statistical analysis to quantify the convey or motion's stability in the main direction of travel, and identify any frequency pattern of the convey or dynamic motion data with the Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) frequency analysis.
