Implementation of a college selection system with SPITBOL

Published:18 April 1977Publication History

ABSTRACT

The prospective college student finds it necessary to spend hours of time looking for the school which will meet his needs. With today's increased use of computers, this searching problem can be eased by the development of an information retrieval system for college selection data. The enormous amount of data required for each college requires that storage be efficiently utilized The query structure requires that data be in a suitable format for easy retreival by the user. These two restrictions placed on the data must now be effectively combined.
