ABSTRACT
Using information and communication technology (ICT) is a promising solution to assist and alleviate some of the existing problems in rural healthcare such as distance, lower number of care providers, communication, information integration, etc. In this paper, we review current work in the area and share our experience of designing a system to provide better continuity of care to patients in rural areas. We have interviewed physicians who work in rural areas, performed site visits, and analyzed the current paper-based system to better understand existing problems and consequently design a better system to tackle the problems.
