The state of the art in content-based image retrieval in P2P networks

Abstract

The rapid growth of P2P networks provides CBIR systems a distributed and suitable environment. In this survey, we review more than thirty recent articles on content-based image retrieval and similarity search methods in various P2P networks. We discuss them separately according to the different P2P topologies. Query routing, indexing, and other aspects in CBIR systems, based on three types of P2P topologies, are investigated. At the end, we give some future research directions with considering both the current technologies and real-world demands.
