Solar windows

Abstract

Till date, to harness energy from the sun we have used solar panels. These solar panels have to be installed on the roof-tops. Imagine windows that not only provide a clear view and illuminate rooms, but also use sunlight to efficiently help power the building they are part of. Solar panels used in today track the sun to generate high optical intensities by using large mirrors that are expensive to deploy and maintain. Solar cell at the focal point of the mirrors must be cooled and the entire assembly wastes space around the perimeter to avoid shadowing neighboring concentrators. The main aim of solar windows is to provide a green invention that would open the doors to all kinds of renewable energy production for all kinds of environment.
