Impact of mobile sink for wireless sensor network

Published: 24 March 2011 Publication History

Abstract

Prolonged network lifetime is important objective in wireless sensor networks. Employing a mobile sink is ultimately the most effective approach to achieve this goal. With a mobile sink, the relay nodes around the sink can always be changed over time, which allows a balanced workload and reduced transmission distance among the sensor nodes. In this paper we evaluate the effect of a mobile sink having different mobility patterns.
