Brand valuation for application programming interface development

Published:02 August 2010Publication History

ABSTRACT

This paper will present how brand value can be used as an alternative method for measuring the benefits of developing an API for a web company. Currently web companies like Google are releasing their APIs almost daily, and as the web application model matures, companies will feel more pressured to develop APIs for their web services. There are various methods to monetize on this APIs such as advertising, lead generation and so on. Yet these current methods of monetizing APIs do not apply to every web company. This paper promises another alternative method to measuring the benefits of API development.
