Design and implementation of city navigation system based on Google Earth and MapX

Published: 17 August 2013 Publication History

Abstract

The construction of a city navigation platform is the basis of the "Digital Earth" and "Digital City". The majority of data supporting a city navigation platform can be divided into two types, namely vector data and raster data, each type of data having advantages and disadvantages of their own. In this paper we attempt to combine both types of data by means of Google Earth and MapX together to develop a city navigation platform based on multiple data sources, and successfully implemented a navigation system of a multi-campus university which possesses several sporadically distributed constituent campuses on the platform.
