Academic dishonesty in a partially online environment: a survey

ABSTRACT

In the academic community, there is a concern that with the implementation of online education (e-learning) the level of academically dishonest behavior will grow higher and faster than before.

This paper presents a study on the presence of academic dishonesty in traditional (live, face-to-face) and partially online courses. The study was conducted at the Department of Informatics, University of Rijeka over a sample of 133 undergraduate and graduate students. The main contributions of this paper are its results by which we could determine: a) the extent to which students are cheating in both types of classes, and b) if a higher level of academic dishonesty is present in traditional or partially online courses.
