ABSTRACT

Inspired by the cruelty in intensive farming of animals, the aim of this installation is to express the sorrow of livestock and poultry and remind people of the story behind their food. Even if you did not kill the animal, eating is just same as killing them. The installation includes traditional Chinese philosophy, which depict the harmonious relationship of human and animal. We would like audience to meditate about this as well. For the research, there were data showing the correlation between population increment and meat consumption. As meat demand increase, inhumane factory farming was adopted. Moreover, some slaughterhouses were still using cruel way to kill the animals. Even those adopted more humane way of killing still cannot avoid the pain and fear suffered by the animals.
