"Tools for bodystorming" an engaging method to improve human condition / interactive exhibition

Published: 15 August 2016 Publication History

Abstract

For an interactive exhibition to be installed during PDC, professor Inna Alesina proposes the "tools for bodystorming"---an engaging multi-sensory experience to address open-ended design challenges. This hands-on and body-on experience highlights the role of confronting the physical world when designing for it. It is not a critique of the digital interaction but rather a reminder that the pleasure of physical participation is a universal phenomenon, even in the era of digital participation.
During mini-workshops, Alesina will create experiences where participants will use everyday materials to "sketch" concepts that can be used immediately for bodystorming to gather feedback and develop them further. The techniques will illustrate several unique ways to facilitate divergent creative thinking and will be beneficial for a wide audience and especially enjoyed by non-designers. Participants can include: educators, inventors, entrepreneurs, design students, designers, engineers, UX developers, and artists.
