Abstract

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 22nd Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web -- WebMedia'16. WebMedia is an annual symposium sponsored by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC -- Sociedade Brasileira de Computação) in the fields of Multimedia, Hypermedia and Web. WebMedia's 22nd edition is held from November 8th to November 11th, 2016 in Teresina, capital of Piauí State -- Brazil.

The organization of WebMedia'16 is under the responsibility of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí (IFPI), Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) and State University of Piauí (UESPI). The central feature of the symposium, since its inception, is its Technical Program. The symposium's technical program is composed of technical sessions with full papers, short papers, short courses, workshops (Thesis and Dissertation Workshop, Tools and Applications Workshop and Undergraduate Research Workshop), as well as keynote speakers invited talks.

In addition to the Technical Program, this year's symposium features a diverse range of activities including Panels, Keynote Speakers, and Courses included on the 9th Unified Computing Meeting (ENUCOMP) that will take place along with WebMedia. Additionally, the conference will hold the 1st International Workshop on Synchronism of Things (WSoT).

WebMedia'16 proceedings include 29 full papers and 28 short papers. These papers were selected from 94 full paper submissions and 62 short paper submissions, with acceptance rates of 30% and 45%, respectively. The Symposium's Program Committee worked very hard to select papers out of many submissions of excellent quality. We thank all the submitting authors for their research efforts and for their submissions and congratulate those who had their work accepted. Finally, we thank the hosting universities, IFPI, UFPI, UESPI, our sponsor, SBC, the supporters, Delta TIC's, Faculdade Estácio/CEUT, Instituto Delta, and our generous sponsors and supporters, CGI/NIC.br, CAPES, CNPq, FAPEPI and InfoWay. We also thank ACM SIGWEB and SIGMM for their in-cooperation support.

We hope you find this program interesting and thought-provoking and that WebMedia 2016 provides you with a valuable opportunity to share ideas with other researchers and practitioners.
