A New Responsive SCORM Design (RSCOD) Approach Based Semantic Learning Object (SLO) Using SharePoint Learning Kit (SLK)

Published: 29 March 2017 Publication History

Abstract

The Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a common model for learning objects (LOs) that makes the reuse of educational content between different systems. There are several Learning Management Systems (LMS) deploying content for mobile users, but in any case these LOs are developed for e-Learning systems and not for m-learning. This article investigates and analyzes the possibility of creating LOs that conform to both the SCROM 2004 specification and adapted to the m-learning display. Based on the OWL2SLO approach, which allows the creation of Semantic LOs (SLOs) using ontology web language (OWL), we will describe another approach for packing a LO in responsive design format called RSCOD conforming to the standard SCORM 2004 and adapted for displaying mobile devices. We will provide authors with a SharePoint LMS for creating, reusing, sharing, and distributing RSCOD objects. The system is built on Microsoft SharePoint and SharePoint Learning Kit (SLK) and allows the creation of modular and extensible software, presenting a simplified interaction with the user.
