ABSTRACT
Creating complementary objects for existing items is common in personal fabrication. However, most supportive systems focus more on 3D inputs [Weichel et al. 2014] and use less 2D information, even though images are easier to obtain than 3D objects in practice. Besides, even with a reference 3D model, it still requires tedious manual work to create a complementary object.

3D geological modeling using sketches and annotations from geologic maps
SBIM '14: Proceedings of the 4th Joint Symposium on Computational Aesthetics, Non-Photorealistic Animation and Rendering, and Sketch-Based Interfaces and ModelingConstructing 3D geological models is a fundamental task in oil/gas exploration and production. A critical stage in the existing 3D geological modeling workflow is moving from a geological interpretation (usually 2D) to a 3D geological model. The ...
Structured annotations for 2D-to-3D modeling
We present a system for 3D modeling of free-form surfaces from 2D sketches. Our system frees users to create 2D sketches from arbitrary angles using their preferred tool, which may include pencil and paper. A 3D model is created by placing primitives ...
