Prototyping of Mobile Application and Web Monitoring for Small Vessel Tracking System

Published: 05 January 2018 Publication History

Abstract

Navigating through the sea in Malaysia might have been a challenge to vessel owners because they might face several problems such as country cross-border, specific fishing zone cross border for different kind of vessels, technical difficulties and bad weather condition. We have developed a prototype and simulation of the mobile application for fisherman running a small vessel to ensure safety while navigating across the sea. It could also be uses as web monitoring system for the marine officer to monitor the movement of small vessel owner who owns the mobile application. In this work, a prototype of centralized system via a combination of mobile application and web monitoring system for small vessel tracking is developed. The result shows that this prototype can track a vessel movement, avoiding and detecting a vessel cross-border, and transmit and receive notifications about ongoing issues at the sea. A real application of this system will be carried at the fishing industry to assist fisherman when they navigate across the sea for fishing activities.
