Improving urban environment awareness through pervasive AR games

Published: 29 May 2018 Publication History

Abstract

Augmented Reality1 (AR) and Pervasive games can be combined to improve citizens awareness about their urban environment. While AR will provide additional information in situ, pervasive games can be used to implement playable cities that support informal learning about the environment through ludic activities performed physically in the same environment. In this paper, we present a prototype of an AR pervasive game application for an Android device that invites citizens to play and acquire knowledge about their city.
