Matlab-Based Software Tool for Implementation of Digrafid Ciphers Using a Modified Algorithm with 64-Symbol Alphabet

Published: 13 September 2018 Publication History

Abstract

The paper presents the digrafid cipher, a cipher which combines the bifid and the trifid ciphers. A modified algorithm for implementing the digrafid cipher using 64-symbol alphabet is proposed. MATLAB-based software tool implementing encryption and decryption of English texts using the digrafid ciphers and 27-symbol (the classical version) or 64-symbol alphabet is presented in the paper. The software tool is designed for the course "Telecommunication Security" for the students in the specialty "Telecommunication Systems" at the University of Ruse. It will enable students to comprehend the principles of encrypting and/or decrypting English texts using digrafid ciphers.
