E-participation service in malaysian e-government website: the user experience evaluation

Published: 10 January 2019 Publication History

Abstract

Over the years, governments around the world are utilizing the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to deliver better information and expedite services to their citizens. One of the main components that saw such rising is e-participation. This e-participation works as a platform to encouraged citizens to interact with government and thus participate in decision making. While user experience is becoming a norm in the human computer interaction field and has been widely studied in other applications, user experience in e-participation has not been studied in depth. Despite the tremendous effort done by governments, many still lack of evaluation of the user experience. This exploratory study uses think aloud method and a set of interaction experience questionnaire to evaluate the user experience when using e-participation service in Malaysian e-government website. The findings of this study can assist Malaysian government in developing a more efficient citizen centric e-participation services that eventually offers a good experience to the user.
