Welcome to HealthMedia, the 4th International Workshop for Multimedia for Personal Health and Health Care, held on Oct 21, 2018, in conjunction with ACM Multimedia 2019 in Nice, France.
Managing one's health is among the most personal and important challenges for everyone. There is an increasing amount of work that shows how multimedia research is becoming an important enabler for solutions with applications and relevance for the societal questions of health. The HealthMedia workshop contributes to shaping the discussion of health in multimedia. We explore the relevance, contribution and future directions of multimedia to health care and personal health. With this, we continue the discussion from three previous successful workshops held in Seoul Korea 2018, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 2016, and Mountain View, USA 2017.
The keynote by Maureen Clerc, Research Director at INRIA and Vice-deputy for research at INRIA Sophia Antipolis-Mediterranee, provides insights into her research on clinical applications of brain computer interfaces. In the scientific program, the accepted papers from international research groups cover the three main areas of research on personal health and health care, covering topics such as tracking and tele health care, activity monitoring and assistive technologies for mental health, crowdsourcing for mobile health applications and patient participation.
