Conformed Thought and the Art of Algorithms

Published: 13 February 2020 Publication History

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze logical procedures in conceptual and perceptual models of artworks, involved in the relation between art, science and technology, reflecting on specific contributions of what we call Conformed Thoughts. These are: codes and set of codes, norms, algorithms, patterns, devices, interfaces, once they are the results of concepts, texts and scientific theories and, therefore, updated forms of elaborated knowledge, with the capacity to change habits and behaviors. And, despite their formal logical-abstract traits, they carry signs plasticity - sensitive marks - that announce them. It is a study to understand how these logical procedures conform the thinking, and how they feed back the systems - sensorial and cognitive -, that evolutionarily and by circularity generate increasingly complex sign systems. This work is based on an exploratory research model, thus providing greater familiarity with the subject, involving a bibliographical research and analysis of examples. It is also important to emphasize that, at this stage of the research, we are focusing on logical processes of the algorithms because, considering the improvement of algorithms development on last decades, it is notable how we can perceive changes in the approaches and artistic processes.
