The Effects of Online-Based 3D Page Flip Science Module on Elementary School Students' Learning Motivation in Indonesia

Published: 03 May 2020 Publication History

Abstract

The quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group design concerned here was aimed at determining the effect of applying online learning with a 3D page flip science module as media on elementary school students' learning motivation. A total of 180 students of Grade V at elementary schools in Indonesia served as the research population. With cluster random sampling as basis, of the students in the population, some became the experimental group, referred to as Class E, and some others became the control group, referred to as Class C. Two different treatments were respectively given to these two classes. Class E was treated with online learning using the 3D science module as media and Class C was treated with online learning using a PDF science module as media.
The data were collected by means of non-test instruments in the form of questionnaires. Normality and homogeneity tests were used as prerequisite tests whereas N-gain scores were used to determine improvement in motivation. Hypothesis testing was done by using the independent sample t-test. For calculation of the effect, Cohen's effect size was used. The research results reveal that online-based learning using the 3D page flip science module as media significantly affects elementary school students' learning motivation. The contribution of the research is to provide the teachers and students with some innovative learning in answer to the challenges of the ongoing digital era in Indonesia.
