ABSTRACT
The Government of Indonesia (GOI) has targeted the commercialization of the electric motorcycle as an attempt to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions. However, there are several impediments such as the short mileage, the long charging time, and the costly purchase price that must be addressed before the mass-scale adoption of the electric motorcycle. A battery swapping scheme has appeared to offer a solution for the prior impediments. However, battery swapping development is a complex system that needs a holistic view in order to understand the system structure and causal relationship between elements. This study aims to develop a conceptual model of how a profitable battery swapping industry is developed, using system dynamics modeling. Through a Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) and a system diagram, the conceptual model shows that the potential user of electric motorcycle and the battery swapping capacity are the key variables that give a significant impact on the battery swapping industry profitability.
