Demonstrating a Modular Construction Toolkit for Interactive Textile Applications

Published: 26 October 2020 Publication History

Abstract

We present a toolkit for the DIY production of interactive textile prototypes and smart fashion. The toolkit is easily accessible and requires only an iron for implementation. The key to our approach is the use of flexible PCBs and textile conductor paths fused together by a heat-activated adhesive in a single process step. The toolkit offers a variety of applications, such as the realization of prototypes, the production of small series, applications in the DIY community and within the field of digital education. In the following, we present our technology and provide insights into the application of the toolkit.
