ABSTRACT

The higher education of the industrial design major in China is undergoing continuous deepening reform. The training program is the master plan for students' four-year study, the baton for coordinating teachers, students and educational resources of the whole specialty, and the key content of the reform. Whether the development of training program is perfect, whether the training target is scientific, whether the curriculum setting can keep up with the development requirements of the times, and whether the setting before and after the curriculum is appropriate have an important influence on the industrial design education. Other's experience may be used to better your practice. The United States is the first country to realize the professionalization of industrial design. Its industrial design education also has a long history, which has accumulated rich experience and formed distinctive features. Through the comparative study of training projects and teaching models between China and the United States, the differences between Chinese and American industrial design training models can be classified, the advantages of American industrial design teaching models can be reasonably absorbed, and the suggestions for the reform of industrial design teaching models in China can be provided.
