Published: 25 April 2021 Publication History

Abstract

This paper analyzes the syntactic functions of Thai adjectives and summarizes the laws and characteristics. Thai adjectives are used to describe and modify nouns or pronouns, explaining the nature and state of people or things. Thai adjectives have two main characteristics: first, they are qualitative adjectives; second, they are state adjectives. It can be used as attributive, predicate, adverbial, object, complement, and adjectives are generally placed after the modifier. Through analysis, it is found that the syntactic function of adjectives in Thai is affected by the Thai language system and language structure.
