Abstract

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the The Ninth International Workshop on Security in Blockchain and Cloud Computing (SBC) 2021. This workshop is intended to bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners in security, privacy and mobile computing communities, to address the security and privacy challenges in cloud computing and blockchain. We will encourage submissions on all theoretical and practical aspects, as well as experimental studies of deployed systems.

The call for papers attracted submissions from six countries and regions from Asia and Europe, and the program committee reviewed 12 submissions and accepted 5 of them.

Blockchains + Network Privacy = A Nightmare

The hope that cryptography and decentralization together might ensure robust user privacy was among the strongest drivers of the early success of blockchains like Bitcoin. A desire for privacy still permeates the growing blockchain user base today. ...

Dagger: Optimistic Byzantine Fault-Tolerance without Rollback

The main issue that hinders the widespread deployment of blockchains is their low throughput and high latency. This has revitalized the search for efficient Byzantine fault-tolerance (BFT) protocols. However, existing BFT protocols either require two-...

Proof of Comprehensive Performance

Proof-of-work (PoW), the most prevalent consensus layer for permissionless blockchains, requires miners to devote a huge amount of computational resources. As a consequence, some miners use application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for PoW, which ...
