ABSTRACT
This paper investigates the effectiveness, from students’ perspectives, of teaching computer networking to electrical engineering undergrads by a classic course in data communication and a task-oriented lab course. Students’ opinions are quantitatively analyzed via an outcome-based learning approach, where the learning outcomes of both courses are detailed and evaluated by the students. The results reveal a varying degree of effectiveness based mainly on the relevance of a learning outcome to the students’ daily life experiences.
