It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 34th ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures - SPAA 2022. SPAA seeks to develop a deeper understanding of parallelism by bringing together the theory and practice of parallel computing, broadly defined to encompass any computational setting where multiple operations can be performed simultaneously or concurrently.
Continuing the SPAA tradition, this year's program reflects the diversity of parallel settings and showcases work that combines theoretical advancement and empirical evaluation. The call for papers attracted 108 regular submissions plus 7 brief announcements. The program accepted 33 regular papers (30.5% acceptance rate) and 12 brief announcements, selected from all submissions with the goal of generating interesting discussions and new directions. Several traditional topics are well-represented, including scheduling, parallel and distributed graph algorithms, and concurrent data structures. The program also includes a few works that touch on energy consumption, near-memory processing, and persistent memory. Two keynote lectures will be given: "Large Scale Parallel Sparse Matrix Streaming Graph/Network Analysis" by Jeremy Kepner and "Algorithm Improvement: How Fast Has It Been and How Much Farther Can It Go?" by Neil Thompson.
