Nonlinear dynamics analysis of involute spur gear transmission system

Abstract

A nonlinear dynamic model of single-stage involute spur gear with 18 degrees of freedom is established by using Lagrange equation, considering the torsional vibration and swing effect of the gear, shaft bending vibration and bearing transverse vibration. Referring to the change of meshing line direction, the influence of time-varying gear center distance on meshing force is analyzed. The model also takes the effect of gear swing caused by eccentric load torque into account. With the help of bifurcation diagrams, Poincare maps, phase diagrams and time history diagrams, the influence of the non-scale meshing frequency on the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the system is investigated in detail. The results show that with the changes of the non-scale meshing frequency, the system exhibits different types of nonlinear behaviors and dynamic evolution mechanism, including period-one, multi-periodic, reverse-multi-periodic, chaotic motions, and jump discontinuity phenomenon. The results of this paper have some guiding significance for selecting reasonable gear parameter values.
