Fish Healthcare In Home Aquariums : Aquature- An Assistive System: A study that focuses on improving the fish care experience for a smart home-aquarium along with a mobile integrated platform.

Published:25 February 2022Publication History

ABSTRACT

Studies have shown that 12.5 million out of the 85 million pet-owning households keep freshwater fish (Lucy Pug, n.d.). Although, the challenge of ensuring adequate fish welfare from Animal Welfare Act (AWA) (US Department of Agriculture, 2008) guidelines is still persistent. Our study identifies the dominant problems observed within home aquariums in accordance with the data from the AWA guideline listings to establish the requirements of fish-care. Our research highlights the current practices of fish owners and proposes a Mobile integrated system for Fish care in Smart Aquariums. Our study shows that most users lack knowledge about fish-care needs and emphasizes the importance of these requirements being met. We have identified methods that can be followed by users to make the fish care experience effortless. The objective is to study and reason the ways in which users can incorporate these practices in their routine to ensure the welfare of the fish in their home-aquariums.
