ABSTRACT
A growing body of evidence from theory, practice, and technological trends suggests that people are getting closer to a learning-oriented society. However, previous published studies are limited to technology science of new learning. We aim to address that what resources are needed to build learning networks for a new learning pattern in a learning-oriented society. Based on the understanding of the learning pattern and paradigm of Illich's Learning Webs, five approaches will be examined, all of which are considered to constitute a new learning pattern. The learning pattern in a learning-oriented society will be characterized by openness, diversity, and interconnection, and it will be presented as interactive and interconnected networks. To construct such a learning pattern, five kinds of networks will be built in the future: 1. Peer network: refers to the selection and matching of learning partners 2. Instructor network: builds a sharing platform for instructor matching 3. Service network: educational institutions (i.e. library-learning palaces) provide the best offline chain services for learning 4. Resource network: generates "soft/hard" curriculums based on individual development 5. Assessment network: applies continuous observation and feedback for lifelong learning. The findings of this study not only fill the gap in research on learning pattern of WBL, but also contribute to the field of lifelong educational management.
