Research on Influencing Factors of Engineering Students’ Classroom Satisfaction Based on Factor Analysis Theory from the Perspective of General Education

Published: 28 March 2022 Publication History

Abstract

The concept of general education focuses on cultivating compound and innovative talents. Its purpose is to cultivate people's comprehensive development. With the development of science and technology, the social demand for talents is changed from professional to compound general talents. Therefore, it is particularly important for science and engineering majors to vigorously implement general education to cultivate comprehensive talents suitable for economic development. From the perspective of general education and based on the theory of factor analysis, this paper selects 501 engineering students as research objects to study the factors of students' classroom satisfaction. Four common factors were obtained by using the method of principal component extraction for dimension reduction of the proposed 16 variables, and the four main factors affecting classroom satisfaction were summarized according to the variance contribution rate. They are teaching form factor (22.460%), teaching content factor (20.853%), teaching attitude factor (18.401%) and classroom assessment factor (15.159%).Then, through the demographic difference test, it also analyzes the significant difference between gender and grade on the influencing factors. Based on this, it is proposed that teachers should pay attention to personal charm and pay more attention to the needs and feelings of students to improve the quality of classroom teaching and improve the classroom teaching satisfaction of engineering students.
