ABSTRACT
This poster presents initial findings from a content analysis of ten existing mHealth applications from the Apple App Store to determine the usefulness of features for potential older adult users. The study utilizes a qualitative approach to describe features from each selected mobile application, then a proposed framework is suggested for rating based on existing literature on designing for older adults. The intent of this study is to provide designers with a tool to support universal design principles when designing digital products for older users.

A Mixed Methods Approach to Designing a mHealth Application Wireframe Framework for Older Adults
SIGDOC '23: Proceedings of the 41st ACM International Conference on Design of CommunicationThis experience report discusses the process of creating a mHealth application wireframe framework called “mHapps” through a mixed methods approach. I provide preliminary results of a mixed-methods study conducted in order to to create a tool to assist ...
An Empirical Study of Older Adult’s Voice Assistant Use for Health Information Seeking
Although voice assistants are increasingly being adopted by older adults, we lack empirical research on how they interact with these devices for health information seeking. Also, prior work shows how voice assistant responses can provide misleading or ...
Recruiting Older Adults in the Wild: Reflections on Challenges and Lessons Learned from Research Experience
PervasiveHealth '18: Proceedings of the 12th EAI International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for HealthcareIt is important to understand the older adults prior to the design process. The understanding can better facilitate design conversations between the researchers and the older adults. In this paper, we discussed our experiences of building a relationship ...
