ABSTRACT
Blindism behavior is the behavior of the visually impaired with repeated distinctive movements and become unconcious habits. This study aims to examine the blindsm behavior that can hinder the learning process in school. The research was conducted using a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, documentary studies, and interviews. The research subjects included 40 blind students and 20 low vision students from 3 special schools in Central Java. The data obtained was analysed by using descriptive data analysis. The results showed that 54 blind students (68,35%) had blindism behavior and 25 low vision students (31,65%) had blindism behavior. There are various forms of blindism behavior found and the most frequent is eye-pressing movements. The results of the interview also confirmed that the visually impaired with blindism behavior has concentration disturbance in learning. In other words, it has an impact on obstacles in understanding the teaching material delivered by the teacher. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the behavior of blindism is owned by almost every visually impaired person which causes children to experience lack of concentration and problems in social interaction barriers.
