Research on The Limitations of Discussion Class in Cultivating Students' Innovative Thinking and Its Reform Suggestions: Taking Engineering Applied College T as An Example

Published: 14 August 2022 Publication History

Abstract

In China, the traditional lecture teaching mode, which means taught by teachers and listened by students, is the main form adopted by higher education nowadays. Although it has its convenience and advantages in a certain period of time during the past decades, this teaching mode gradually reveals its disadvantages and can no longer meet the requirements of students for the breadth and depth of knowledge in the new era. In this context, the educational concept began to innovate, and the teaching mode began to reform, various new teaching methods were proposed and tested. Among them, discussion class teaching mode has attracted extensive attention of experts and scholars because of its small, choice and deep characteristics. Taking engineering applied college T as an example, in this paper, an in-depth study of this new teaching method by means of questionnaire survey and online interview has been made. It is found that college T has received positive response from students since it founded the scientific paper writing discussion class, and some reform suggestions have been made to handling the limitations in practice of such teaching mode.
