Visualizing and analyzing the evolution of authorship and co-authorship networks of articles from the Brazilian symposium on human factors in computing systems

Abstract

In Brazil, the Brazilian Symposium on Human Factors in Computing Systems (IHC) has brought together researchers interested in the area of Human-Computer Interaction since 1998, and is currently considered the main Brazilian event in the area. Over the course of twenty editions, the IHC has received works by authors from different parts of the world who, over the years, have been building their own co-authorship relationships with the other authors of the Symposium. This work sought to analyze, with the help of different visualizations, the IHC from the perspective of those who helped in the consolidation of the event and in the expansion of the area in the Brazilian scenario, i.e., its authors. In total, 1,388 authors were considered in the analysis. Issues related to the genre and production of these authors, over the years, in the different tracks of articles of the IHC, were considered. In addition, the work analyzed the co-authorship networks of the event tracks and how they evolved over the editions.
