ABSTRACT
Experimental design is vital for evaluating changes in user mental models and behaviors. In this UX research case study, we take inspiration from clinical research and employ an ABA (baseline-intervention-extinction) and AB/BA crossover experimental design to understand user perception, usage, and adoption of a new smartphone feature ("new phone feature"). We describe how we employed the ABA and AB/BA Crossover experiment paradigms in a series of studies over 4 months and the insights gleaned.
