ABSTRACT

The widely studied fault location algorithms based on WAMS are based on idealized measurement conditions, which limits their practical applications. In order to provide a reliable fault location scheme for the condition of incomplete information (such as extreme weather, communication fault, etc.), a transmission line faults observability is proposed. This method adopts distributed parameter transmission line model, which can more accurately to consider the influence of distributed capacitive current on fault location accuracy; The algorithm has excellent performance and is not affected by the initial phase angle, load and fault path impedance; Only the transient data signal of phasor measurement unit (PMU ) is required, and other information such as system impedance is not required; The algorithm has no iterative process, and the calculation speed is fast. The effectiveness and robustness of this method is verified by many simulation analyses.
