Definition and Implementation of a Gamification Model for Virtual Teaching Environments

Published: 18 January 2024 Publication History

Abstract

Technology-enhanced learning environments are currently one of the research fields where great scientific advances are being made, given the repercussions it has on the teaching-learning processes, especially at an early age. The number of software applications developed for educational environments has been growing in recent years and their use in teaching environments is becoming more and more consolidated. The main objective of this paper is to design a gamification model in order to motivate Preschool and Primary Education students to get them involved in activities and tasks proposed by their teachers. The gamification model has been implemented within a multiuser virtual teaching environment created to support the performance of several activities proposed by teachers. The gamification model has been evaluated with primary school children, getting really positive results.
